Russian meddling didn’t impact election results: Trump

Washington: United States President Donald Trump on Friday announced that a new round of indictments in special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation shows his campaign “did nothing wrong” and prove there was “no collusion” with Russia.

“Russia started their anti-US campaign in 2014, long before I announced that I would run for President. The results of the election were not impacted. The Trump campaign did nothing wrong – no collusion!” Trump tweeted.

Trump’s remark comes after Mueller indicted 13 Russian nationals for allegedly interfering in the 2016 United States elections.

According to The New York Times, along with the 13 nationals, three Russian organisations were also accused of illegally using social media platforms to influence the Presidential elections of the United States.

“This indictment serves as a reminder that people are not always who they appear to be on the Internet,” Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein said at a press briefing announcing the indictments.

“The indictment alleges that the Russian conspirators want to promote discord in the United States and undermine public confidence in democracy,” Rosenstein added. (ANI)
