Beijing: Till this date, Xiaomi has continued to provide update support for its old smartphones dating back to 5 years with the latest MIUI software but now the company has decided to stop providing software updates for its ageing smartphones.
Redmi smartphone owners across the globe will be affected and no longer receive any MIUI updates or any Global Beta with the software support will now end for once and for all for its ageing smartphone users, IBT times reports.
The affected Redmi models that won’t be receiving any future software updates from Xiaomi are:
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, Xiaomi Redmi 3S, Xiaomi Redmi 3X, Xiaomi Redmi 4, Xiaomi Redmi 4A, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, Xiaomi Redmi Pro.
The official announcement was made by the Mi Community on Indian Board. The Admin also said the normal upgrade for other devices won’t be affected for the time being.
But this indicates that Xiaomi might as well end it’s support for other ageing Redmi phones too.
The bright side of this move it that your Redmi phone mentioned in the list will continue to receive normal security updates.
But here’s some advice for all the Indian Redmi users, don’t hold on to these phones for long as the company might decide to end that support as well.
There are plenty of options in the market from Redmi better switch to a new smartphone.
