Sajjad Gani Lone could be BJP’s next man for J&K CM

Srinagar: After Mehbooba Mufti quit the alliance with BJP and stepped down from her position as J&K’s CM, the party imposed presidential rule in the state appointing Satya Pal Malik as the current Governor of J&K.

Now speculations are that saffron party has already chosen alliance partner for assembly elections in the state whose announcement is just around the corner.

And the perception is everything when it comes to politics. The alliance partner BJP has willingly chosen for the next position of CM is speculated to be Sajjad Gani Lone, son of former separatist leader Abdul Gani Lone, who was assassinated in 2002.

According to observers, the two parties are drawing in closer for quite some time now and the same was indicated when BJP general secretary and the party’s Kashmir in-charge Ram Madhav mentioned plans to meet Lone during his visit to Kashmir.

And ever since then he has reportedly met Lone several times apart from accepting a dinner invitation from him.

On the political front, the People’s Conference currently has just two MLAs and even with the support of BJP’s 25 legislators, there is little hope that some magic could work in their favor.

Currently, under President’s rule Kashmir had the six-month limit which is ending next month and if speculations are proved right, there is no party seemingly ready in a position to form the government, hence the buzz is that the BJP party will conduct polls in March and formal alliance between BJP-PC will be declared, TOI reports.

According to Experts, with this alliance, BJP is also seeking to counter National Conference’s Abdullah family and the PDP’s Sayeeds.
