Sanjay Dutt discusses mom’s tragic death in this throwback video

MUMBAI: Bollywood’s latest release Sanju, on the controversial life of Sanjay Dutt has had a great opening. The film not only focus on the father-son bond between Sanjay and Sunil Dutt but also explores Sanjay’s close relationship with his mother, Nargis Dutt.

In a throwback video from the 90s, Sanjay can be seen talking about the tragic death of his beloved mother and veteran actress Nargis Dutt.

Sanjay was only 22 years old when the Mother India actor passed away due to pancreatic cancer in 1981, just four days before the premiere of her son’s Bollywood debut film Rocky.

Sanjay says, “When my mother died, I didn’t cry, I had no emotions. It was after two years when I was sitting with a group and a guy started playing a recording. I heard my mother’s voice advising me and telling me how much she loved me.”

He continued that after hearing the recording, “I think after two years I just burst out and I cried for about four-five hours. Everything that was inside me, I took it out and once that happened I was a changed man.” he added.

Nargis’ recording which broke Sanjay into tears tears said, “More than anything Sanju, keep your humility and your character. Never show off. Always be humble and respect elders. It’s the only thing that is going to take you far and give you strength.”
