Demanding that the TRS government order inquiry into the sari “scam” by a sitting judge, Telangana TDP working president A Revanth Reddy today alleged that the government indulged in huge scam in the name of Bhathukamma saris.
Speaking to the media here on Monday, Revanth Reddy alleged that Rs 50 worth sari was being distributed to Telangana women on the occasion of Bathukamma festival. He also alleged that the government “insulted” women by distributing low quality saris bought in Surat and the people concerned pocketed Rs 150 crores in purchase of Bathukamma saris.
At another press meet, Mahila Congress chief Nerella Sharada has alleged that the Chief Minister was insulting women by distributing low quality of saris. She said the Chief Minister was playing cheap tricks for women’s votes. (NSS)
