Saudi Arabia: After Riyadh, cinema hall opened in Jeddah

Jeddah: The first cinema was opened in Jeddah on Monday. It must be noted that cinemas were banned in Saudi Arabia for decades until the first one opened last April in Riyadh. The lifting of the cinema ban is part of the Vision 2030 reform plan of Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman.

According to Arab News, Bader Alzahrani, center, CEO, General Commission of Audiovisual Media, threw open the first cinema in Jeddah by cutting the ribbon on Monday. A large number of higher officials, investors, media representatives, film industry experts were present on the occasion. The Vox Cinemas has been opened in Jeddah‘s Red Sea Mall.

The theatre comprises of 6 halls, where 12 screens have been put up. The cinema has been designed in a unique way. The Saudi government on twitter informed that 5 theatres will be opened up during the current year.
