Saudi Arabia: More than 2.5 million arrested

Jeddah: Since November 2017, Saudi Arabia arrested 2.5 million persons for residency, labour and other violations.

According to the report published in Arab News, out of 2504037, 1949024 persons were held for violating residency regulations whereas 383033 and 171980 were arrested for labour and border violations respectively.

Out of 41233 people who were held for making an attempt to cross the border into Saudi Arabia, 51% are Yemeni citizen whereas 46% belongs to Ethiopia. Three percent belongs to other nationalities.

It is also reported that 1852 persons were arrested for making an attempt to cross the border into bordering countries.
