SC decision to shut 15-day window changed game: Congress counsel Singhvi

New Delhi: The senior counsel and Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi who appeared in the Supreme Court for the Congress and the JD-S on Saturday, said that “the Supreme Court’s decision to shorten the time frame for BS Yeddyurappa to prove a majority from 15 days to one day was proved to be a gamechanger.”

Singhvi, who was one of the Congress’ legal brains to file a petition challenging governor ‘Vajubhai Vala’s invitation to Yeddyurappa to form the government, told the Hindustan Times: “Definitely, the SC order changed the game. The bench married harmoniously both principle and pragmatism. We also, rightly, accepted the offer.”

The senior lawyer who appeared for the Congress party in K.G. Bopaiah matter had expressed hope in SC’s decision of the live streaming the floor-test in Karnataka Assembly and said that it will maintain fairness and transparency.

“Most important objective was to establish transparency. Since the statement has come from Additional Solicitor General that live feed of proceedings would be given, we hope and trust there would be fairness,” Singhvi had said.
