New Delhi: Welcoming the decision of Modi government to treat instant triple talaq as illegal and void and will attract a jail term of three years for the husband, All India Ittehad Millat Council Chairman Tauqeer Raza Khan said today the present government wants to declare instant talaq as a crime but it has been considered a crime in shariah for the past 1400 years. He said giving instant talaq is a major sin. Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) has expressed strong anger over giving triple talaq at one go. The awareness we should have created among the people regarding triple talaq at one go, could not be made possible, however whom we consider as our enemy are doing the service to Islam.
He said though giving instant triple talaq is a punishable sin, but if the talaq has been given, it would be valid , there are no ifs and buts in this regard. Maulana Tauqeer Raza cited that the man who gave instant triple talaq was punished with lashes during Hazrat Umar’s (RAA) time.
