SC orders contempt notice to BJP leader Manoj Tiwari

New Delhi: After Delhi Police filed an FIR against Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari, taking action in the case, the Apex Court today issued contempt notice to Tiwari directing him to appear in the court before 25th September.

Tiwari was captured on video while illegally breaking the government’s seal of premises in an unauthorised colony the SC had ordered, Caravan daiy reports.

The Apex Court today observed that an elected representative allegedly tried to defy the apex court’s orders.

“An FIR has been registered against Manoj Tiwari on the complaint by Deputy Director MCD, North Zone in Gokulpuri police station,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Atul Kumar Thakur told IANS.

He was also seen protesting against municipal officials “pick and choose” system.

The Delhi Police then booked Tiwari under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 461 and 465 of the Delhi Municipal Corporation (DMC) Act.

While in a similar incident, the Madras High Court registered a suo motu case against BJP’s National Secretary H Raja for using abusive language for the high court.

H Raja forcibly wanted to defy Madras High Court’s order banning processions through the communally sensitive area.

When the Police stopped him, he abused both the police who was stopping him and the High Court.

It was after the Police who shot the video of Raja’s abusive language for the department and court filed a complaint against him on Sunday.

Taking strong note of the derogatory remarks of the BJP leader, the High Court said:

“… we Judges are but cogwheels in the administration of Justice, till we have done our time and wane away. It is the majesty of this Institution, the Hon’ble Superior Courts and Courts below, which is paramount and it is this that we seek to uphold. The Judiciary held in high esteem by all right thinking people and which holds its head high by virtue of its numerous decisions both of old and of new has held aloft the flag of Justice.

Any attempt at creating a dent in this most revered pillar of our democratic system could lead to promotion of fascism, naxalism and all that is opposed to democracy.”
