Second phase of Lok Sabha polls begins in Srinagar

Srinagar: A very less number of people are seen casting their votes at several polling booths in Srinagar, while as many of the polling booths remain empty till the first half of the day.

2nd phase of LS polls begins in Srinagar under tight security arrangements today to provide safe passage to the voters to cast their vote and for Securing polling stations from any untoward incident.

According to several reports, minor stone pelting incidents occurred in different parts of the city.

Meanwhile, complete shut down is being observed across the valley, while as transport is off the roads and mobile internet services have also been suspended. A large number of troops are seen wearing riot gears in the city to maintain law and order.

Separatists have called for a boycott of the election process to highlight the Kashmir issue. Directorate of Information claimed that 2.5% of the people cast their votes till 11 AM for Srinagar constituency while as the overall percentage of polls in the state is 17.8% up to 11:00 AM
