Sharda University clash: Parents of 38 students summoned

GREATER NOIDA: Parents of 38 students of Sharda University, were summoned after the sporadic violence between two groups of students, broke on Thursday.

According to Times of India reports, the district administration invoked clauses of the Criminal Procedure Code for breaching peace, to appear before the sub-divisional magistrate’s court.

Out 38 students, 21 are from Afghanistan whereas 17 are Indians. the district administration has asked the university to pay for their security bonds since it was not possible for Afghan student parents to come.

The outsiders inside the university also accosted the parent of Kashmiri students, asking them if they were Indians or Afghans

A mob of young men on Thursday thrashed a few Afghanistan nationals that allegedly triggered by an objectionable WhatsApp conversation on that began last Monday evening.

“It is strange that a small brawl has taken a political hue. This situation could have been handled on the campus had the university taken precautions and not allowed outsiders to get involved. Every parent is concerned about the security of their children,” said the father of a student from J&K.
