Shatrughan Sinha attacks PM Modi over ‘no funds’ for Patna Univ

Patna: Former actor and now BJP MP, Shatrughan Sinha, targetted Prime Minister Modi on Sunday for not granting Patna University the status of Central University.

PM Modi had visited Patna University to attend the centenary celebrations on Saturday, reported India Today. BJP MP Sinha, who is known for his jibes at the central government, wrote on Twitter that no announcement was made by PM Modi about giving a central University status to the Patna Varsity.

“Our people’s expectations got a jolt when despite a specific appeal by Bihar CM, no announcement was made by the hon’ble PM @narendramodi to give the status of Central University to Patna University. Nor was any announcement made to allocate the much-expected crores of funds specifically for restoration of Patna University to its past glory,” Shatrughan Sinha posted on Twitter.

He further wrote: “There is now a sense of despondency in Patna and many have started asking if the huge expenditure incurred for the PM’s visit to the university would not have been better spent on upgrading the facilities, laboratories and the overall infrastructure of the University.”

“Many of our people now say and believe that ‘No Show is better than Poor Show’. However, I still salute @narendramodi for gracing the (occasion) and wish my university all the best. Hope, wish and pray that we are still able to do something to restore its past pride. Jai Bihar! Jai Hind!” Sinha tweeted.
