Shatrughan Sinha slams BJP govt on Rafale requests for Opposition unity to defeat BJP

Shatrughan Sinha, the disappointed BJP leader criticised the central government led by the PM Modi over the Rafale deal.

Speaking at a farmers’ panchayat he said a French publication had cited former French president Francois Hollande as saying that the Indian government had promoted Reliance Defence as a partner for the French aerospace major Dassault Aviation for the deal.

He said questions were being asked why an experienced company like the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) was kept aside and a new company got the deal for the Rafale contract.

He urged to all opposition leaders to consolidate to defeat the BJP in the 2019 general election.

The Congress and the BJP parties have been involved in a war of words over the Rafale deal to buy 36 Rafale fighter aircraft from France, with allegations and counter-allegations.
