Lucknow: The head of Uttar Pradesh Shia Waqf Board Wasim Rizvi, who has a solution for Babri Masjid conflict, faces forgery charges.
The former Samajwadi Party corporator had given a solution of Babri Masjid dispute, saying a mosque should be made in Lucknow and a temple should be constructed in Ayodhya to maintain peace.
However, Rizvi is fighting several cases of forgery, related to Waqf properties and three of these were registered under the current BJP government.
The Yogi government has also recommended a CBI probe into the misuse of waqf properties under him, reports The Indian Express.
Rizvi, on behalf of the Shia Waqf Board, had submitted a proposal before the Supreme Court on November 18. Where, he had suggested that a temple be built at the disputed site, while a mosque in Lucknow’s Hussainabad area.
Meanwhile, defying the charges against him, Rizvi said: “All the cases against me were lodged when I started taking action against the maulvis (clerics) for corruption related to waqf land seven years back. These people had political links and I was wrongly framed. I have moved court regarding the three fresh cases.”
