Shiv Sena to BJP on Ram Temple: ‘If not now, when?’

MUMBAI: The Shiv Sena in an attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi said if not during the tenure of the current BJP-led majority government, then it wondered when the Ram temple could be constructed in Ayodhya.

It will be like betraying people of the country if the Ram temple cannot be constructed before 2019 elections, for which the BJP and the RSS would have to apologise to them.

This came after PM Modi in a recent interview said that any government action on the temple construction can happen only after the judicial process is over.

Modi’s statement on the Ram Mandir issue came at a time when the RSS chief and deputy chief have publicly demanded ordinance for the construction of Ram Mandir. It must be noted that BJP and RSS leaders have been demanding an ordinance on Ram Mandir.

The Shiv Sena in an editorial in party mouthpiece ‘Saamana’ asked, “He (Modi) came to power in the name of Ram, however, according to him, Lord Ram is not bigger than law (RPT Lord Ram is not bigger than law). The question now is if the temple cannot be constructed in the majority government, when will it ever be.”
