Siasat’s Bengaluru edition completes two decades: Zahid Ali Khan, Roshan Baig address

Hyderabad: In the garden city of Bengaluru, a bright chapter was added in the history of Urdu Mushairas when a Mushaira continued till the wee hours on 1st March.

MLA and former Minister, Mr. Roshan Baig had organized a Mushaira to mark two decades of completion of Siasat’s Bengaluru edition. The Mushaira was organized at Bengaluru Palace. Selected Urdu poets from all over the country were invited. The Mushaira was dedicated to the martyrs who laid down their lives in Pulwama incident. Most of the poets paid rich tributes to our soldiers highlighting their patriotism. The Mushaira was started by observing two minute silence and recitation of national anthem.

Mr. Roshan Baig in his welcome address paid rich tributes to the martyrs. The Mushaira was sponsored by IMA Group of Companies.

In his welcome address, Mr. Roshan Baig stressed the need for unity and said that our country is passing through a phase in which even our soldiers are not safe. He stressed the need for the government to punish those who are responsible for this incident. He also expressed his anxiety over the prevailing narrow mindedness. He told that this Mushaira is a small tribute for those martyrs.

Promoting the tradition and culture of Mushairas, he told that Urdu newspapers have played a constructive role for the progress of society.

Mr. Roshan Baig recalled that he had started Siasat’s Bengaluru edition in 1999 and since then, it has been progressing well. He welcomed all the guests.

In his presidential address, Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily highlighted various phases of developments of the newspaper and said that it has not only fulfilled the needs of journalism but also continuing its social and welfare activities.

He further told that Siasat’s online edition has the credit of being the first Urdu online newspaper which was inaugurated by the then PM of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh. Today, this newspaper is viewed by more than one lakh readers of more than 90 countries.

Highlighting the social and welfare activities of Siasat Urdu Daily, Mr. Zahid Ali Khan told that meritorious and intelligent students are given financial assistance for the preparation of various competitive exams. He also mentioned the unique campaign of cutting down extra expenses in marriages has gained popularity. He mentioned that Siasat awards scholarships to 3000 students every year.

Addressing on this occasion, Chairman of Minorities Department of All India Congress Committee, Mr. Nadeem Javed congratulated Mr. Roshan Baig and his son, Mr. Roman Baig. Recalling the launching of Siasat Urdu Daily, he said that it was started at an era when the country was facing after the partition. Siasat Urdu Daily played a key role in dissuading the Muslims of Hyderabad from going to Pakistan. He paid rich tribute to the far-sightedness of Mr. Roshan Baig and said that he played a key role in providing right guidance to the Muslims of Bengaluru.

Expressing his views to the media persons, The MD of IMA Group of companies, Mr. Mohmmed Mansoor Khan felt delighted on the completion of 20 years of Bengluru edition of Siasat Urdu Daily. He also told that the confidence with which, Mr. Roshan Baig had started Siasat Urdu Daily, Benguluru, IMA made an attempt to maintain it.

Replying to address, Mr. Roshan Baig told that it is not an easy job to continue to publish the newspaper for two decades. He mentioned that Siasat is the only newspaper of Karnataka which publishes all its pages in colour. He informed that it is publishing its edition from Hubli also.

Mr. Roman Baig who is the Director of Danish Publications felt pride on the completion of two decades of Siasat in Bengaluru. Mr. A. Nizamuddin, Director of IMA Group of Companies also expressed his happiness on this occasion.

After the inaugural function, the Mushaira was held. Present on this occasion were former Minister, Dr. K. Rehman Khan, former MP, Syed Nasir Husain, Secretary of AICC, Mr. Madhu Goud Yakshi, former Minister of AP Mr. Mohammed Ali Shabbeer, Senior IAS officer Mr. Mohammed Monsin, Chief Editor of Pasban Urdu Daily, Mr. Obaidullah Shareef and others.
