Sindhu donates KBC prize money

International Badminton player PV Sindhu today participated in a special KBC (Koun Banega Karodpathi) a Quiz Program of Sony TV edition hosted by Amitab Bachchan.

Participating in the program, Sindhu had announced that the prize money won through it will be donated to help/support those fighting cancer. She also revealed that the donation will be given to Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital & Research Center as it is in the forefront of helping cancer patients, especially those from economically backward families.

PV Sindhu has formally handed over the prize money of Rs 25 lakh won by her to Nandamuri Balakrishna, Chairman, BIACH&RI at a special program organized on he Hospital premises today, according to a release from BIACHRC.

Nandamuri Balakrishna said the act of PV Sindhu will surely inspire others to join the fight against cancer. While praising the recognition brought by Sindhu to the nation, Balakrishna lauded the efforts of Sindhu’s parents Ramana and Vijaya behind their daughter’s success. He promised that the good work will continue with same vigor in future also.

Earlier welcoming the guests, Dr RV Prabhakar Rao, CEO, BIACH&RI enumerated various achievements of the hospital in the recent past. He also revealed that BIACH&RI will be opening a satellite center at Vijayawada and soon such centers will come up at other places like Tirupati.

After receiving the cheque from PV Sindhu and her parents, Balakrishna felicitated the Olympian and her parents with a special mementoes and shawl. (NSS)
