Singareni workers behind Congress: Shabbir

Senior Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir claimed that the SCCL workers were in favour of INTUC candidates in the forthcoming Union elections.

During his visit to Shanthikhani, Kasipet, Shabbir interacted with thousands of workers in the coal belt area of Bellampalli and Godavarikhani. He said the initiatives taken during the previous YSR cabinet has transformed the Singareni Colleries from losing concern to a profit-making coal unit. Workers  of Singareni  had recalled golden era of Congress Governance which had great concern for the welfare of workers.

Addressing the gathering, Shabbir Ali said though the Singareni workers backed the TRS-led  union  in the previous Union elections, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and Nizamabad MP Kavitha had not even thanked them for their valuable votes. He alleged that KCR in the State and Prime Minister in Delhi have not shown any concern for the woes of the workers of  Singareni Collieries and they are proceeding with plans to privatize  the company for benefiting their own  kith  and kin.

He also pooh-poohed rumors that leaders of other trade unions were joining TRS-owned Union ‘The Singareni workers are unhappy with the TRS union and decided to teach a lesson to TRS  in the coming elections  and elect the right persons committed to serve the workers and the Singareni region, he said.  (NSS)
