Situation under control in Kasganj, life becomes normal after six days

Kasganj: After six days of violent communal clashes, the situation in Kasganj came under control and life became normal. Amid tight security, shops reopened on and people as usual returned to their works on Thursday.

On January 26, republic day, communal clashes broke out after a group took out tiranga yatra following which skirmishes took place and one youth named Abhishek Gupta alias Chandan died.

According to the news reported in Hindustan Times, additional director general (ADG) Agra, Ajay Anand said that “The situation in the district is completely under control. But we are not reducing deployment of security personnel.”

Police had arrested the main accused Salim Javed and hunt is on for his brothers Naseem and Waseem.

Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by SP (crime) OP Singh said that “Of those arrested, 42 are accused under serious charges, the remaining 81 are arrested under prohibitory sections.”

He further added that “We are reviewing preliminary circumstantial evidence related to the incident submitted by local police.”
