Somalia: 4 killed in car bomb explosion in Mogadishu

Mogadishu: At least four people were killed and nine wounded after a vehicle laden with explosives detonated in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu on Thursday, reported Xinhua.

The explosion occurred at a restaurant not far from the Presidential residence. The blast also destroyed several parked vehicles.

“So far we can confirm that four people are dead and nine others injured in the explosion. The number of casualties could rise any time,” Xinhua quoted a police officer as saying.

The investigation into the matter is underway.

No terror group has claimed the responsibility for the attack so far. However, al-Shabad, a jihadist fundamentalist group based in East Africa, has conducted numerous such attacks in the country in the past.
