If my son deserves to be probed, then why not Jay Shah: BJP veteran Yashwant Sinha

NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) veteran Yashwant Sinha on Friday hit out at the central government and the ruling saffron party asking to investigate his son Jayant Sinha in Paradise Papers leak matter but also Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah.

Last week, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha’s name has cropped up in the leaked list of ‘Paradise Papers’ of companies having offshore entities globally.

The 80-year-old outspoken leader told NDTV, “My request to government is to probe the politicians whose names have come in the Paradise Papers and it should be time-bound, within 15 days to one month.”

The former finance minister has strongly criticised the Modi government’s economic policies and also objected to the filing of an Rs 100-crore defamation suit against The Wire, which carried a story onhuge rise in the turnover of Jay Shah’s company after the BJP came to power in 2014.

“My question is when an inquiry against Jayant Sinha, then why not Jay Shah – there you say file a case in court. So a probe should be against everyone,” said the veteran BJP leader referring to the allegations of financial fraud levelled against party chief Amit Shah’s son.

Among those whose names have appeared in Paradise Papers leak are Mukesh Amabni owned media group Network 18, Zee Group’s chief Subhash Chandra, Hindustan Times owned by Shobhana Bhartia and Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan.
