Sons of celebrity chef, industrialist caught with LSD and magic mashrooms in Kolkata

Kolkata: The Narcotics Control Bureau in Kolkata have arrested Deep Chakraborty, son of a celebrity chef and Vivek Sharma, son of a Kolkata-based businessman and one other in connection with a drug haul. LSD blots and magic mushrooms were also seized from a house on Saturday.

Vivek’s cousin Rishab Sharma is being the third one to be arrested from their respective residences in the connection, reports News18. NCB Kolkata Zonal Head, Dilip Kumar Srivastava said that Deep Chakraborty, a professional Disco jockey (Dj), was found involved with the others in supplying drugs to college students. His father owns a very popular restaurant in South Kolkata, he said.

“We received a tip-off about them from some of the previous arrests. We first decided to raid Vivek Sharma’s house and seized the drugs and hallucinogenic substances. 13.5 grams of the ecstasy-like substance, 2.49 grams of magic mushrooms, 20 LSD blots and nine pink star-shaped pills, believed to be MDMA were recovered from their house,” said Srivastava.

They procured the drugs via an online portal of ‘Darkweb’ from ‘Dream Market’. “A software was installed on their cell phones and they used to do all their transactions through Bitcoin. The buyers mostly belong to the elite class,” Srivastava said.

About the use of magic mushrooms, Srivastava elaborated saying, “One can brew it in hot water or tea, make snacks, or even mix it with chocolate to consume.” All three were produced before the NDPS court in Alipore, while the investigation is going on.
