Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir): A special carnival organised by the Kothi Bagh Girls Higher Secondary School in Kashmir’s Srinagar is providing the much-needed platform to their students to exhibit their talent in different fields apart from education.
The carnival attracts several visitors from the valley, who through the various artworks, get to know about the culture and the traditions of the state.
Stalls at the exhibition include artworks ranging from calligraphy, jewellery making, cooking and live demonstration of Mehendi application among others.
During the event, visitors including the parents of students throng the carnival and purchase different types of products prepared and presented by students which also boosts the morale of the students making them look forward to the carnival.
The principal of the school, Romana Qazi, said, “This is an art festival. Children submit their artwork for exhibition, and they also earn money if their work is sold. I am impressed by the enthusiasm of the students.”
Falak Jan, one of the stall owners, said, “This is a platform for many. Visitors get to know about a lot of tradition through the exhibition. Children also learn a lot.”
Saba Hameed, a visitor, called the carnival a great initiative. “The carnival promotes the culture, also boosts the morale of students. It is very important to have events like this,” she said.
One of the students, Faqiya Jan, expressed her excitement and said that this carnival gives her and many like her a chance to exhibit their talent and art. She added, “I feel good. We get a chance to involve with our culture and also we get exposure.”
This carnival gives the students in the valley a much-needed exposure to showcase their skills in different fields other than just education.
