Staff Selection Commission to be set up in Goa: Parsekar

Panaji: Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar today announced that Staff Selection Commission/Board will be set up in the state for recruitment in the government sector.

“We have already moved the proposal for Staff Selection Commission or Board before the Law department,” he said in the state Assembly.

He said the Commission/Board will spare the unemployed youths from appearing for the selection examinations every time they apply for the post.

Under the Commission, one-time common exam would be held for candidates applying for posts in different government departments, he said.

Parsekar was responding to a question tabled by Goa Vikas Party (GVP) legislator Caitan Silva, who sought to know the number of government sector recruitments conducted so far since March 2013.

In the reply, it was informed by the government that 8,000 odd jobs have been provided in last three years.

The maximum numbers of posts– 2,414 — have been filled in police department, followed by electricity (1,419), directorate of art and culture (489), department of health (444), fire and emergency services (291), and Public Works Department (238).
