Stone pelting on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat triggers tension in Bhainsa

Bhainsa: Miscreants created havoc by pelting stones on the worshippers who had gathered in Makkah Masjid of Bhainsa on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat. As a result of it, a worshippers received serious injuries.

The miscreants also exploded crackers near the masjid with an intention to disrupt law and order situation in the area.

According to the details of the incident, two days back, when Isha prayer was being offered at a masjid located in Owaisi Chowk, Makkah Colony on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat, the family members of Gangadhar whose residence is adjacent to Masjid burst crackers in large number which disrupted the prayer. Later, pelting of stone also started from outside the masjid. One worshipper by name Asif Qureshi received serious head injuries which resulted in the irate of other worshippers. The news of the incident spread in the town like a wild fire.

DSP of the area, Mr. B. Rajesh, Circle Inspector of Police, Mr. Srinivas reached the spot and controlled the situation.

Pelting of stones damaged motorcycles and police vehicles. Mr. Rajesh informed about the situation to higher police official. Mr. P. Shahidhar Raju, SP of Nirmal District and Mr. P. Dakshina Murthy, Addl. SP reached the spot and controlled the situation.

It is reported that an Urdu Journalist and the members of Makkah Masjid Committee extended their cooperation to the police. Mr. Raju spent the night by camping in Bhainsa. Police patrolling in the town was intensified.

Mr. Maqsood Khan, President and other members of Makkah Masjid Committee apprised Mr. Raju and Mr. Murthy of the latest situation. Mr. Raju assured that after thorough investigation, stern action will be taken against miscreants.

Police officials appealed to the people not to pay heed to rumours and to contact helpline number 100 in the event of any unpleasant situation.

DSP told that CCTV cameras are being installed in Makkah Colony and police pickets have been setup in the area. He also informed that two separate cases numbering 75/2019 and 77/2019 were registered under relevant sections of IPC.
