Strandja Memorial Boxing: Nikhat Zareen wins gold, creates history – Here’s what KTR tweets

New Delhi: In Strandja Memorial Boxing Tournament which was held on Tuesday in Sofia, Bulgaria, former junior world champion Nikhat Zareen won gold medal and created history. She defeated Filipino Irish Magno by 5-0.

Another Indian, Meena Kumari Devi also won gold by defeating Aira Villegas of Philippines by 3-2.

Manju Rani bagged a silver medal. In final, she was defeated by another Filipino.

According to the report published in NDTV, Pwilao Basumatari (64kg), Neeraj (60kg) and Lovlina Borgohain (69kg) settled for bronze medals.

After winning the gold medal, Nikhat Zareen tweeted, “I am very happy to win Gold🥇for India at the Strandja Cup. I dedicate this medal to the families of the CRPF jawans who lost their lives in the Pulwama attack🙏”.

Congratulating Zareen, Mr. KTR wrote, “Many congratulations Nikhat on a fabulous performance & making us all proud 👏👍 Keep punching 🤛 your way to more glory”.
