Subramanian Swamy urges Prez to summon Sitharaman over FIR against Army

New Delhi: BJP MP Subramanian Swamy today took his campaign against registration of an FIR against army personnel by the Jammu and Kashmir Police to President Ram Nath Kovind, urging him to summon Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and seek an explanation.

He accused Sitharaman of giving an unauthorised clearance to the state government for registration of case.

“I have asked the President to summon her…,and ask for her explanation,” he said after meeting the President.

The police had registered an FIR against the Army over the death of two civilians in firing by soldiers after a stone-peltig mob targeted an army convoy in Shopian.

Swamy said the FIR is a “blot” on governance and weakens India’s stand around the world.
