Sugar prices fall on ample stocks, low demand

New Delhi: Sugar prices softened by Rs 15 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following ample position of stocks on constant arrivals amid reduced offtake by stockists and bulk consumers.

Marketmen said apart from huge stocks position on persistent supplies by mills, reduced buying by stockists and bulk consumers, weighed on sweetener prices.

Sugar mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices lost by Rs 15 each to end the day at Rs 3,205-3,400 and Rs 3,195-3,390 per quintal.

In the mill gate section, sugar Kinnoni, Budhana, Thanabhavan, Simbholi and Chandpur traded lower by Rs 15 each to Rs 3,400, Rs 3,320,Rs 3,315, Rs 3,365 and Rs 3,275 per quintal.

Sugar retail markets – Rs 34.00-37.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 3,400-3,630, S-30 Rs 3,390-3,620.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 3,205-3,400, S-30 Rs 3,195-3,390.
