Sushma Swaraj says won’t contest elections next year

Sushma Swaraj, a  politician and a former Supreme Court lawyer. A senior leader of Bharatiya Janata Party, She is serving as the Minister of External Affairs of India since 26 May 2014, she is the second woman to hold the office, after Indira Gandhi.

The Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Tuesday made a big announcement, according to the initial reports she has said she won’t be contesting the  Lok Sabha elections which are scheduled to take place in the next year

Speaking to the reporters she shared her decision in Madhya Pradesh where elections will be held later this month. According to the initial reports she has cited health reasons.

She said, “It is the party which decides but i have made up my mind not to contest the next elections.” adding that she had informed her party.

Earlier in November 2016, she posted the news herself on Twitter. “I am in AIIMS because of kidney failure. Presently, I am on dialysis. I am undergoing tests for a Kidney transplant. Lord Krishna will bless,” she said before her surgery.
