T- EPS Pensioners’ Protest on Feb 7, 8

Hyderabad: Telangana All Pensioners’ & Retired Persons’ Association has demanded the Union Government to immediately make public the recommendations made by the High Empowered Committee on EPS pension and also sanction Rs.3,000 per month as interim relief to retired persons.

Addressing the media at Hyderguda NSS here today, Association President P Krishna Murthy and General Secretary M N Reddy said that the Government had stated in the Lok Sabha that the Committee had submitted its recommendations in the last week of December 29108, but the same was not made public so far. This silence on the part of the Government was creating many doubts in the minds of the pensioners. They said that EPS pensioners will organize a half-naked protest in front of Provident Fund office here on February 7 and similar protest at dharna chowk, Indira Park on February 8, demanding immediate announcement of the recommendations.

They said that the Association had submitted a representation to the High Empowered Committee on August 7, last year, in which it demanded a minimum pension of Rs.9,000, per month, revision of Dearness Allowance every three months, restoration of sold away pension and commutation facility, implementation of Supreme Court verdict on higher pension to all pensioners without discrimination of exempted and un-exempted categories, provision of medical facilities to them, etc.
