Taking inspiration from India, triple talaq issue raised in Pakistan also

Islamabad: Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) is pushing the idea of deeming triple talaq in one sitting as punishable. Chairman of CII Dr Qibla Ayaz told this on Wednesday while addressing media persons after a CII session. He told pronouncing ‘talaq’ thrice at the same time has emerged as a pertinent issue. Such issues are reported in local masajid on the daily basis which affects women and children in general. They have a negative effect on their health and education.

Mr Ayaz said a meeting will be called to discuss the matter with religious scholars to fix the punishment and also on making a consolidated divorce paper. He urged the Ulama to highlight the issue during Friday sermons. Chairman council hinted that the CII will organise a conference in this regard.
