Tatkal Passport: MEA removes “verification certificate” requirement – Know the details

New Delhi: After the decision of Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), persons who want to apply for passport under tatkal scheme do not need to get verification certificate from senior gazette officer.

According to the report published in The Hindu, MEA has amended Passport Rules, 1980 to remove verification certificate requirement.

Talking about the change in the rules, Regional Passport Officer (Thiruvananthapuram), Mr. Ashique Karattil said that with this step, applicant no longer need to get the verification certificate and it will be a great relief to those who face difficulties in getting it.

According to the report published in TOI, another initiative introduced is “Online allocation of the time slot for query resolution”. It will help people who reside in distant towns.
