TDP Urges Election Commission To Take Action Against Cm For Election Code Violations

Telangana TDP today urged state election commission to initiate immediate action against chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for misusing his official machinery and violation of model code of conduct after announcem3ent of elections for GHMC.

In a letter to state election commission, TDP state working president A Revanth Reddy the announcement of some schemes by the state government is nothing but direct attack on the constitutional bodies like state election commission which requires immediate action against the chief minister.

Citing example about a news appeared yesterday in “ Namasthe Telangana” telugu daily he said KCR has written a letter to railway minister Suresh Prabhu requesting him to extend MMTS service to Yadadri from the Hyderabad city. He said we are not objecting for extension of railway lane, but we oppose and object to the timing of a the letter as election code is already in force following GHMC el3ections scheduled to be held on February 2. Another news item about construction of 41 kms distance East-West corridor besides the Moosi river and announcement of four lane bridge near Durgam tank. The CM met a Chinese delegation at his camp office and this project has to be completed within 25 months.

Another announcement for calling a tender for Palamuru-Ranga reddy lift irrigation project as 66 division in Ranga Reddy districts which are going to poll in GHMC elections.

The TDP leader in his letter complained that these announcements are meant for attracting the voters in GHMC elections which tantamount to violation of model code of conduct.

In an another separate letter the election commission, Revanth reddy termed these news items as paid news which were prominently published in Namasthe Telangana and telecaste in T News Telugu channel.

He requested the election commission to take action including the prosecution against the Namasthe Telangana news daily and T news telugu news channel and constitute a committee on the paid news and also keep vigil on the expenditure on the TRS candidates in the GHMC elections.(NSS)
