Teach another lesson to Congress in panchayat polls: KTR tells cadre

Hyderabad: TRS working president KT Rama Rao today hit out at TPCC Chief N Utham Kumar Reddy for his comments on the polls in which the people slapped the Congress-led alliance. He charged the Congress leaders with talking mindlessly about the TRS regime and the elections. When the people of Telangana drove away TD chief N Chandrababu Nadu to Amaravathi, the Congress conspired and got him back for the polls and used his Rs 500 crore to lure the voters, he charged.

Addressing a meeting of TRS workers of previous Nalgonda district at Telangana Bhavan here on Friday, the former minister ridiculed that the people taught Utham a lesson in the recently held Assembly polls. Now the people of Huzurnagar and other panchayats in Nalgonda district should rewrite history by giving mandate to the TRS and rout the Congress leadership. “The Assembly polls gave a jolt to the Congress as its leaders like Jana Reddy, Utham Kumar Reddy and Komati Reddy Venkat Reddy and others lost their seats”, he said and slammed the Congress leaders for roping in former AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi despite her ill health, for campaigning in the Assembly polls and faced unceremonious defeat.

The TRS was able to improve its poll percentage from 47 per cent in 2014 polls to 88 per cent in 2018. It shows that the people increased their faith in the TRS regime which was focusing on welfare and development of all sectors. The Congress could not come out of the blow of the defeat and not in a position to fight panchayat polls, KTR said. The TRS workers and leaders should work to win the majority of the seats in panchayat polls. “We have to win the polls unanimously and ensure development of the villages”, he added.
