Sixty SHE TEAMS, set up to protect women, are doing their silent decoy operations in the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate to protect women from eve-teasing.
This year, 433 cases (354 petty cases and 79 FIRs) were reported in which 488 offenders were involved. All the offenders have been counselled by Professional Counsellors of Bhumika Women’s Collective, in collaboration with Cyberabad Police and SCSC (Society for Cyberabad Security Council). All the offenders are being counselled along with their parents at Crime Against Women Cell, SHE TEAMS Office, CPO, Gachibowli.
Among the 23 offenders, six are on remand. Most of them are between 18 and 30 years old and a few of them are around 35 years old. During the last two weeks, 21 cases have been reported in which 23 respondents booked. Today June 25 counseling was held for 15 respondents
Most of the Eve-teasers are repenting about their mischievous act and realizing the necessity of respecting women after an hour of counselling session. Majority of them are leaving the counselling hall of CAW Cell with water filled eyes with clear goals of their lives. Parents are heartfully appreciating the initiative taken by Cyberabad SHE TEAMS.
