New Delhi: A 32-year-old Mohammed Azam, UK educated techie and an employee with Accenture who was lynched to death on Friday, on fake rumors of child lifting was merciless dragged through a muddy face with a rope tied on one hand.
Mohammed Azam’s horrifying last moments before he was ruthlessly murdered by villagers believing him to be a child-lifter was accessed by NDTV which shows the inhuman merciless mob-killing of the techie in Karnataka’s Bidar.
What is shocking is the law and order in this village seems to have lost to these mobs who can be seen pleading with their hands folded begging the frenzied mob.
A picnic to fetch fresh honey from Bidar by four friends who had relatives in the village, unfortunately, has ended in tragedy.
Villagers suspected the group of men who were seen sharing chocolates with schoolchildren were child kidnappers- mentality fed with fake WhatsApp rumors.
Manoj Kumar Biradar is the admin of the WhatsApp group called ‘Murki mother’, Murki is one of the villages in the region while Amar Patil, 22, is reported to have transmitted the message were arrested among 28 accused in total for the murder.
Since the group sensed danger they ran for their lives in their car but the phone calls made from the Handikhaera village to Murki village to ‘stop the new red car’ reached the frenzied mob faster than the car.
Taking action to the call, villagers blocked the only way out with a fallen tree. The speeding car hit the tree and rolled over into a ditch.
Techie Azam was then dragged out of the car, kicked, beaten with stones, sticks and whatever the crowd could get its hands on.
Azam’s family is in shock. “My brother was a software engineer, father of a 2-year-old. He was just a regular guy… How can they think they were kidnappers?” asks his brother Akram.
