Hyderabad: Despite movements like #MeToo and government’s initiatives to make the society safer for females, crimes against women still taking place in various parts of the country. In one such incident, a 17-year-old girl was thrown into a dry well after she resisted alleged rape attempt.
According to the report published in NDTV, this incident took place at a village in Jangaon District, Telangana. D. Rajesh (25) allegedly tried to rape the minor girl on Saturday. When the girl resisted, he threw her into the dry well. When local residents came to the spot after hearing the screams of the girl, the accused also jumped into the well.
Luckily, locals rescued the girl. They also attacked the accused. Police rushed to the spot and arrested the accused.
Police registered a case against the accused under the charges of ‘attempt to murder’ and ‘attempt to rape’.
