Telangana: Dead body of two leopards found in forests

HYDERABAD: Two leopards were killed in Telangana forests. One was found strangulated by a snare and another was found in Armoor forest, the range of Nizamabad district.

According to TOI reports, a snare was set up by poachers on Monday at Mancherial to catch the leopard. Divisional officer of Mancherial forest, J Venkateshwara Rao said, on Monday wood collectors got a foul smell in the area, when they searched, they discovered the leopard in a snare.

The leopard may have been killed three to four days ago. The body was decomposed. We have set up a base camp with forest officials and also requested a dog squad to come to track poachers, he added.

Another one was found by a forest beat officer in compartment number 112 in Mamidipally section of Armoor range. V.S.N.V Prasad, Nizamabad forest divisional officer said we contacted the Jannaram FDO to send a dog squad to catch the accused.

Officials took the accused, identified as K Vijay Kumar, Kethavath Ravi, Mothewar Tulasi and Nunavath Narender into custody after they were caught by the sniffer dog.
