Telangana district court judge arrested in DA case

Hyderabad: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested additional district judge of Ranga Reddy court Vaidya Vara Prasad and remanded him to 14-days judicial custody in connection with a disproportionate assets case.

Prasad has been remanded to Chanchalguda central prison till November 28 following ACB recovering assets worth Rs 3 crore belonging to him during a raid conducted on November 14.

According to Telangana’s ACB Director-General J. Purnachandra Rao, on the orders of the High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad on November 13, a case of disproportionate assets to his known sources of income was registered against Prasad under Sections 13(1)(b) r/w 13(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

As part of the investigation, the ACB conducted searches at the residences of Prasad at Saroor Nagar, Kondapur. The agency also searched the residences of Prasad’s associates at four places in Hyderabad, three places in Sircilla and two places in Maharashtra.

During the raids, several documents related to assets and huge expenditure were unearthed, said the Director-General adding that it revealed Prasad along with his family made several foreign trips incurring huge expenditure.
