Hyderabad: There is a possibility of electricity consumers getting ‘double shock’.
Authentic sources indicated that electricity consumers will be levied GST and they will asked to pay enhanced development charges.
It is reported that discom companies propose to enhance development charges. The electricity consumers who got connections after 1st July 2017 are getting bills in which GST is included. It is estimated that such consumers are more than 10 lakh.
Most of the consumers after seeing the electricity bills are getting shocked. For example, Rs. 1080 are being included as development charges for a consumer bill of Rs. 176. In another case, for a bill of Rs. 83, Rs. 216 was added as GST.
It has been observed that electricity bills are being issued without reading the meters.
