Telangana: FB page admin arrested by Cyber Crime for posting derogatory posts about CM

Hyderabad: Facebook posts derogatory comments are landing Facebook account holders behind the bar.
With the latest one reported is from Hyderabad where the admin of a popular Facebook page, Spirit of Telangana was arrested on Monday for his alleged derogatory posts criticizing ruling TRS government in Telangana state.

The page admin identified as Prashant was arrested form his office in Banjara Hills by Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force. The page has other five members as admins.

According to the Police, Prashant had posted few derogatory posts about Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and his Cabinet Ministers.

Since the page “Spirit of Telangana” is a popular one the page gathered support demanding Prashant release with several users using the hashtag #releaseprashant. The page has also shared screenshots of Prashant’s arrest by officers dressed as civilians.

A post on the FB page read, “Prashant hails from a poor family and he is using words as his weapon. Staying in a simple room without taking salary, he is exposing the losses that are happening due to the present government. He must be released immediately.”

Another admin appeals the page followers saying, “Spirit of Telangana was established for the people and runs because of the people. Around three days ago, we had exposed some irregularities by a TRS Minister in Suryapet district. We suspect that he was detained due to that. Our only intention is to expose the government’s mistakes. Such acts will not deter us and we are ready to fight and face all consequences.”

Prashant was later released by the cyber crime police, Hans reported.

This sudden arrest was however condemned by Congress leaders including Dr Sravan Dasoju and Revanth Reddy.
