Karimnagar: Women are not yet completely safe. Despite stringent laws and awareness campaigns, they are becoming victims of rape, molestation, sexual harassment at the workplace etc.
In one of the incidents of violence against women, a 22-year girl landed in hospital for saying “No” to marriage proposal of a 28-year-old man. This incident took place in Karimnagar.
According to the report published in Telangana Today, in Elabotharam Village of Karimnagar Rural Mandal, Gajavelli Shankar attacked Eraveni Laxmi on Saturday night. He slit the throat of the girl with a blade.
After the attack, the girl was rushed to hospital where she is undergoing treatment. Fortunately, she is out of danger.
As per the details, for the past one year, the accused was harassing the victim to accept his marriage proposal.
Police registered a case and started investigation.
