Telangana: Govt bans PVC used in carry bags, burning of plastic

Hyderabad: The state government has banned the use of chlorinated plastic and short-life Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) in Telangana. The draft notification on PVC and chlorinated plastics was issued on Monday, making it clear that there will be a “complete ban on usage of short life PVC and chlorinated plastics.”

PVC is used in making the carry bag. Moreover, TS govt was directed by the National Green Tribunal to put a cap on burning of plastic in open places last year. So, it has also banned the burning of plastic in open, DC reports.

A fine of Rs 25,000 and Rs 5,000 will have to be paid as “environmental compensation” if anyone violates the order. For each incident of bulk waste burning, Rs 25,000 will be paid by violator and Rs 5,000 in a case of “simple burning”.

Objections and suggestions will be entertained over the next 60 days and should be addressed to the member secretary, Telangana State Pollution Control Board, Paryavaran Bhavan, A-3, Industrial Estate, Sanathnagar, Hyderabad-500018.
