Hyderabad: Telangana Minority Commission has sent a letter to registrar Dr B R Ambedkar Open University Prof C Venkataiah directing him to appear before the commission on July 28. After receiving the petition regarding scrapping of Urdu medium course from the university, the commission contacted university officials.
Chairman Mohammed Qameruddin spoke to Vice Chancellor Seeta Rama Rao and Registrar C Venkataiah on phone and demanded the restoration of Urdu medium courses and asked Urdu enjoys the status of 2nd official language in the state, how can a state university deprive its students of Urdu medium facility?
The registrar has agreed to appear before the commission on July 28 with all the details. It must be noted that Urdu is not mentioned in the admission notification issued by the university.
