Telangana politics: Are MIM, TRS, BJP joining hands against Congress?

If rumours of TRS -BJP alliance become a reality, what would happen to MIM which claims to be an ally of TRS?

Hyderabad: In the wake of the proposal to hold Parliament and Assembly elections together, there seem to be bright chances of new political alignment in Telangana State. The ruling TRS Party is in search of a strong ally whereas other smaller parties are planning to enhance their seats by joining hands with TRS.

Congress party has clearly indicated that it will take the support of leftist parties and the JAC led by Prof. Kodandaram whereas BJP has kept the option open for forging an alliance with TRS. This was clear with the visits of TRS ministers in BJP constituencies recently.

It may be mentioned that Mr. KT Rama Rao, Mr. N. Narasimha Reddy and Mr. T. Srinivas Yadav visited the Assembly constituencies of Dr. Lakshman, State President of BJP and Mr. G. Kishen Reddy, floor leader of BJP in Assembly.

The rumours are making rounds that in the next General Elections, TRS and BJP would join hands. If this becomes a reality, what would happen to MIM which is claiming to be a strong ally of the ruling TRS for the past three years?

On certain occasions, KCR admitted that MIM is his ally but in politics no one could predict who would turn the table against whom and when? In such a situation, the proximity of BJP with TRS can’t be ruled out. The role played by BJP MLAs and the visits of TRS Ministers in Assembly constituencies of BJP are making the rumours strong that in the General Elections both the parties could become inevitable to each other.

Although, BJP MLAs made an attempt to target the ruling party in the recently held winter session of Assembly but most of the time, it went in support of the Govt. The leaders of the MIM spent most of their time in praising the CM and the Govt. In such a situation, it may not be easier for TRS as to who should come under its umbrella. Obviously, the ruling party would certainly prefer the party which may benefit it most and which is in power in the Center.

It may be mentioned that for the approval of various projects and welfare scheme, TRS is facing difficulties in getting funds from the Center. It can resolve it by extending the hands of friendship with it. As far as MIM is concerned, it would be exploited as the Bhajan Mandali of the Govt. among the Muslims or it would be left in a situation where it can’t oppose TRS. The party which has been appreciating the Govt. may not turn against it so soon. MIM has widened the gap between it and Congress and it is not possible for the Congress party to make MIM its alliance. In this case, the only option left out for MIM would be to continue to support TRS.

If BJP and TRS forge an alliance at state level, MIM can enter into a secret agreement with TRS as far as the Assembly constituencies of Old City are concerned. MIM has always been striking secret deals with all the major parties forcing them to float weaker candidates to ensure their success.

BJP can help TRS by floating its candidates in Muslim concentration areas. Some of the leaders of BJP opposed its alliance with TRS. They believe that BJP can get enough number of seats in Telangana on its own.
