Telangana presents Budget Session bill for 2018-2019

Hyderabad: Telangana Finance Minister Eatala Rajender on Thursday presented the state budget for 2018-19 in the Assembly.

The budget session of this year began on Monday with Governor’s speech and soon decided to hold another BAC meeting to decide the bill, decision on which shall be taken up on the last day of session on March 27.

The BAC meeting of the state assembly was headed by speaker S Madhusudhana Chary and the committee decided to conduct budget session until March 27 except March 16, 18 and 26.

Here are the highlights of the Budget Session:

* The Total budget of Telangana State is calculated as Rs 1,74,453 crore

* Telangana Revenue expenditure for the year current financial is Rs 1,25,464 crore.

* Telangana revenue for the current financial year is expected to touch Rs 73,751 crore.

* Telangana GSDP is expected to touch 10.02 by the end of this year.

* Medical devices hub to be set up at Sultanpur in Sanga Reddy district.

* Mega Food Park would come up at Buggapadu in Khammam district.

* The State plans to give employment to nearly Four lakh youths once eco-Pharmacity becomes fully functional at Mucherla.

* The Telangana government would take steps to fill in vacancies in the state since nearly 1.10 lakh vacancies were identified, now steps have been initiated to fill up 83,000 posts while 27,000 vacancies were filled.

* New Panchayat Raj bill will be introduced in the present session.

* The Budget proposes Rs 12,000 crore as input subsidy to farmers, Rs 500 crore.

Allocations:

* Police Department of Telangana has been allocated Rs 5,800 crores.

* Municipal Administration has been allocated Rs 7,200 crore including Rs 300 crore for Warangal municipal corporation and Rs 400 crore for other municipal corporations. No financial assistance for GHMC.

* As many as 6,200 new industries were set up in the state under TSIPASS. Rs 1.18 lakh crore investments have come to the state

* Health Care sector has been allocated Rs 7,370 crore.

* Education Department has been allocated Rs 2,800 crore.

* Power sector of Telangana is allocated Rs 5,650 crore while ongoing power plants construction would be completed.

* Journalists welfare has been allocated Rs 75 crore while Advocate welfare has been allocated Rs 100 crore.

* For Women and Child welfare schemes Rs 1790 crore have been allocated.

* Construction of new Collectorates and District Police Offices have been allocated Rs 500 crore in this previous against Rs 600 Crore allocated in the last year’s budget.

* Telanganaku Haritha Haram scheme has been allocated Rs 1,166 crore for plantation in order to improve the plantation state in Telangana.

* Rs 1800 crore allocated for providing piped water to all the households in the state under Mission Bhagiratha.

*Distribution of three acres land to landless Dalits will be continued this year too Rs 1470 crore earmarked for the same.

* For development of Backward Classes, Rs 1000 crore have been allocated to MBC Corporation, Times of Indian reported.
