Hyderabad: The Waqf Board of Telangana State (TSWB) is willing to walk an extra mile to address the growing unemployment among the Muslim youth in the state. Since its inception in 1955 and restructuring in 1996, Waqf board has been taking care of protection of Waqf properties, construction and repairs to Masjids and Waqf institutions and maintenance of Haj House.
Going beyond its traditional functions, Waqf board is planning to establish skill development centre across the Telangana State, thus, said Telangana State Waqf Board Chief Executive Officer, Shanawaz Qasim. He further added the committee is looking into probable locations where these centres will come up.
Waqf board is also planning to conduct weekly seminars for Muslim youth by experts in the various fields to motivate them. Earlier, Waqf board has written a letter to the Central Government to establish a Skill Development Centre in the premises of Haj House in Nampally accordance with Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana Scheme. Board officials said that with seminars and skill development centre, Haj House will become a platform for the generation of employment for Muslim youth.
To bring in more efficiency in its functioning, Waqf board has come up with a plan to overcome its burdensome duties because of short of staff and work overload. Waqf board is planning to train its staff in using computers and the internet in fulfilling their duties, said Qasim. He further added that he is going to write a letter to Dr Marri Channa Reddy Human Resource Development Centre in Hyderabad to train Waqf staff.
To augment the process, board earlier started the process of digitization of all the records related to Waqf properties. This work is progressing on a priority basis, first important property records then all records will be digitized.
Recently, Central Waqf Council has praised the Telangana Waqf Board for reforms in its functioning. While the digitization of records of Waqf property brings in more transparency, tech-savvy staff will be more efficient in executing their duties. The skill development centre, seminars and motivation classes for Muslim youth will ensure that youth is becoming more employable. With all these activities TSWB is set to become a great platform for people’s development and welfare.
