Telangana: TRS’s victory despite being called unofficial ally of BJP

Hyderabad: Despite TRS being indirectly called BJP’s ally, the party has won for the second consecutive time with highly influenced Muslim votes in the state alongside AIMIM.

The shift in Muslim votes was also facilitated by the AIMIM party which decided to contest only in 8 seats but has also campaigned indirectly for the TRS in 11 Muslim dominated assembly segments.

KCR struck the right chords while campaigning in Muslim dominated areas. In Muslim dominated constituencies, KCR made sure to speak in Urdu to reach people. Not only did he speak in Urdu on Muslim beliefs, but he has also increased the honorarium paid to imams in Mosques as well.

When the ruling party was caught in a huge controversy of being an unofficial alliance of BJP, KCR left no stone unturned in showing the reality and his support for AIMIM party in Telangana.

He also verbally attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to prove his support for AIMIM and indicate the voters in the state that he was not in any understanding with the BJP.

However, over the past years, KCR did well for the Minor Muslim community with various welfare schemes in the state, was proof enough of his service to the community.

The minority community is estimated at around 12.7 percent of the state’s population, Oneindia reports.

This minority community was a factor in 45 constituencies.

The notable constituencies which have a Muslim presence are Hyderabad, Adilabad, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Medak, Mahbubnagar and Secundrabad.

The AIMIM contested in the six seats it held in Old City of Hyderabad, one in Secunderabad and one at Rajendranagar.
