Tez App updated to help users to pay their utility bills

Tez payments app, which was launched in September last year, has been updated by google so that users can pay their utility bills from various local service providers.

Earlier, the app used to support only peer-to-peer payments via the national Unified Payments Interface (UPI) system, which allows for transactions directly between bank accounts, at no cost.

Utility bills including national and state electricity providers, gas and water, and DTH TV can be paid through the app with a single tap.

To search for service provider, one needs to press the ‘New payment’ button, and enter account details. Through this app, one can see their pending bills also.

This feature helps users by unnecessary logging into various sites and apps to keep essential services up and running at home.

Google is also planning to get independent merchants and small businesses to adopt it this year. This feature will go against WhatsApp, which had recently introduced WhatsApp business to chat directly with customers and send them transaction alerts.
